- Hareesha, age 10, India
- We all thought about it for a while. I knew that everyone was scared at the very sight of the dinosaur even they knew that it was harmless. We were in the centre of the city. Where could we find plants? That too for a dinosaur that probably ate 10 tons of plants a day! Or something like that. My mind began to wander. I thought of how hungry I was. Oh boy! How much ime will it take us to figure out how to feed this dinosaur? Time? Time?! Time! Time that's it! The dinosaur must have travelled through time to get to our city! How did he do that? I wondered. In the end I decided to ask Jill. I went up to her. “Hey Jill! can you ask the Styracosaurus how he got here?”
- “What on earth for???” exclaimed Jill but she did it anyway. I have to make it a point to ask my stepmother (Jill) how she talks to dinosaurs. “He says that he was just about to start his meal when a man in a white coat came up to him and then all he remembered was a blinding flash of white light.”
- I didn’t answer. I knew very well who “the man in the white coat” was. He was doctor Dino-terror and his ambition was to take control of the dinosaur world. I heard him say, while I was spying on him, that his latest idea was a time-travelling machine. Looks like his invention was sucessful...

- Luca, age 7, Australia
- It was like this, Jill and Styracosaurus went for a walk to the Botanical Gardens. Styracosaurus ate 10 fern plants, and a patch of daffodils, and drank a whole duck pond. Styracosaurus was happy. But then the rangers spotted him. Jill climbed on Styracosaurus's back and they ran down to the Art Gallery of NSW, zoomed twice around the Sydney Opera House and swam to Fort Denison. The horses stayed at the Opera House and the rangers swam out to tie Jill and Styracosaurus up. Jill cried, “Stop! Stop! Don't hurt Styracosuarus! He can help us! He can pull carts, eat the weeds and mow the grass!” The ranger thought that that was a good idea. So they helped Styracosaurus live at the Botanical Gardens where he ate all the weeds and only the really high ferns, drank from the overflowing duck ponds, and gave people rides on his back for fun. The people were not scared of Styracosaurus any more, untill the foot prints of Tyranosaurus Rex appeared. But that's another story....

She told the dinosaur to stay there while she goes to a friut shop in the supamarket. The dinosaur understood most of it and obeyed Jill.
- Jill came back with a bag full of friuts and vegies. The beast came forewards munching on the plants. In five seconds, there was nothing left.
- Jill decided that she would ride the dinosaur to the nearest forest- but it was a long way. Finally, they arrived and the beast jogged towards the trees and pulled, crunch, and munch up all the leaves, etc. Every now and then Jillwould come and visit, in fact, she had spread the word to everone, and she needed to build a fence to keep people from damaging the environment and scaring the dinosaur away. Nobody yes nobody was allowed to take photos, it was so strict, that anyone who even brought a camera, was to be sent to a detention home and stay there for two weeks.
- After all that fuss, the beast died, it had the most biggest funeral ever- how do I know, well cause Jill was my mum, she told me everything, and I even get to ride the dinosaur- it was a lifetime experience.

But they didn't want it to eat up ALL the plants in the jungle, or else the gorillas and other animals would get mad. - Emmy, age 9, Australia
- And then all of a sudden plants came out of the Earth and the Styracosaurus was so happy and never went hungry again.
- Nyree, age 12, Australia
- After a while she came up with an idea...close by there was a national park! Maybe the park will provide what the styracosaurus needs.
- But the park was closed now so she would have to wait till the next morning. She calmed the styracasaurus which she named Stompy and walked him to her house. Jill's house was only a couple of streets down the road so it was quite close. She showed Stompy to the backyard which he easily walked over. She whispered to him to stay there until morning which Stompy quietly curled up and layed his head on the newly cut grass. Jill ambled inside through the back door and collected her pillow and quilt from her bed and slept on the couch close to the back door so she could keep an eye on Stompy.
- Next morning Jill woke up to Stompy noisily chomping on a pile of bark in the back. She pulled the blanket off and slowly edged towards Stompy as so not to surprise him. The pile of bark was supposed to cover the top of her apple tree that she kept. Stompy was hungrily gobbling up the bark but was stopped by Jill. "No more bark Stompy". She barked at him "I need some bark for my apple tree. You can't eat all of it". Stompy moaned. "Don't worry, today we are going to the national park and ask if you can fill your stomach" she laughed rubbing his stomach.
- Since Jill had not changed the night before she had no need of changing. She led Stompy out and walked him down the street to the national park. While they were walking they heard children shouting that their toys had come to life and were pushed back by their mothers when they tried to run up and touch the dinosaur that they thought had come to life from their plastic toys.
- When they reached the park, everyone made way before they got trampled on by the beast strolling through the park. They reached the front office at which Jill asked, "hello. nice morning isnt it?" the park rangers just stared at Stompy with their jaws open. "d-d-d-d-d" stuttered one of the rangers looking like he would faint any moment. "yes nice morning" answered the head ranger after realising he was supposed to answer. "Can we help you ma'am?" he asked politely. "Actually yes. I have a question I need answered and it might take some time to decide but I would like to ask if the dinosaur here could fill up his stomach?" she asked trying her best to get a yes from them. "I beg your pardon? this park will not satisfy a dinosaur and it is too
small."
- "But this park looks big enough"
- "Yes, big enough to fill a baby dinosaur not an adult dinosaur! He would eat every leaf on every tree and still not be ready to lay down and sleep all winter."
- "Oh" was all Jill could say. Her idea had not worked out as she had expected, "do you by chance know anywhere that would satisfy Stompy?"
- "Stompy?" asked the ranger surprised.
- "yes Stompy. thats what I named him"
- "Oh yes well I know that there is a huge area of forest that the government is going to demolish to build buildings but I do not know anything else."
- "Oh thank you soo much" she cried and rushed off to the area's council with stompy on her heels.
- As she reached the council she cried out to the woman at the office to help her. The woman helped her immensly and gave Jill directions to the area which they were about to demolish in two days which she thanked her for and ran to her home and jumped in her car and drove down the road to the demolishing area and told Stompy to follow her. She went right, then right again at the lights and then she went left at the roundabout and drove for 10 minutes down a curved road to see a crane in the distance.
- She pushed on the accelerator as she got closer. As she drove in to the area she hit the brakes and came to a stop and quickly got out of her car and ran over to a chubby man drawing down a map of the surrounding areas.
- "Please-i-need-a-favour" she puffed.
- "Yes madam?" said the chubby man.
- "Can i have this dinosaur nibble on the area you are now about to clear?
- He is very hungry and needs nourishment and if he eats most of the vegetation here it will save you the time tou clear it."
- The man thought about it for a minute and then he turned around and scribbled something ona piece of paper and turned around "Sure!" he smiled and pulled his mobile out and talked to someone on the line "guess what Bill?" he said through the phone "we dont need a week to clear the trees.
- "A lady's 'ere with, you wont beleive this but a dinosaur and the dino's gonna eat half the trees and we'll gain time." He said so cheerfully he was practically shouting.
- Meanwhile, Stompy ran as fast as his little legs could run to the green plants and started munching on the leaves and branches. Jill nearly fell down laughing as stompy ran towards the greenery.

- Jill walked in and found that there were millions of plants, so she jogged over to a worker and explained about Styracosaurus and that it needed some food. So the worker suggested that buying bulk buys for Styracosaurus because it will save Jill money and she would get more plants.
- As Jill walked back to Styracosaurus, she thought that she should send him to a Endangered Species Wildlife Park. When Jill finally got to Styracosaurus she fed him his plants. Later on Jill called The E.S.W.P and they said that they were fine with having Styracosaurus. The next day The E.S.W.P picked up Styracosaurus and took him to the park.

When Jill got there she bought all the fruit and vegies - she didn't even keep some for herself. When she turned up with all the food the dinosaurs eyes lit up. He ate it all up! After he finished eating he had enough energy to get lifted into the air and evaporate into thin air. When Jill got home she saw a note and read it. It was a note from the dinosaur. 'Styra' then needed to sleep, so I took him to a shady spot where I always go and he lay down and fell asleep for the next 4 hours. I answered proudly. “Well Nouha, thanks to you we can get this dinosaur back in shape, here” she said handing a small peice of cardboard with writing on it. “What’s this?” I asked. “It’s a family ticket to Questacon, I hope you'll enjoy yourself there, she said, if you even go”. “Are you kidding, of course I’ll go, I've always wanted to go to Questacon, thanks Jill”. “No thankyou, you’ve been a great help, goodbye”. “Goodbye”, I answered staring at the ticket.

- When he woke up there was a huge wall of electric fence around him. He started to panic. He couldn't believe it. He rubbed and rubbed his eyes, to find it was all a big bad dream. The plants that he had eaten made him a bit dosy and so he got up and headed straight for the bush. And so the Styracosaurus never appeared in the city again. Some say he died and others say that he went to another city. But every night I go out and have a look at the stars. Every night there is a new star to be born.

Looking down at the others, Jill realized they didn't have any food either. Styracosaurus was sad again. - Alex, age 8, USA
- Jill said, "Follow me." Jill and Styracosaurus walked through the town. All the people stared at them. They were heading to the other side of town. Jill knew where they would go. As they reached the edge of town, Jill could see the small white house on the hill. As they approached the house Jill saw the figure of an older white haired lady. The noise Styracosaurus made from his steps made the old lady turn to look. "Hi, Grandma!" said Jill. Jill explained the situation to her Grandma.
- Grandma nodded her head in understanding and motioned with her hand for Jill to follow. The three of them traveled to the rear of the house. Behind the house on the hill was a huge field with rolling hills and covered in green from the plants it hosted. The Styracosaurus grinned a toothy dinosaur grin and Grandma said, "You are welcome to feast on the hills of my farm." Jill visited Grandma often. But now her trips to the farm were even more exciting because she could watch Styracosaurus grazing in the grass.

So Jill took the dinosaur to the Science and Technology Centre. The people there said that they would feed him as long as he would be a part of a dinosaur exhibit. The dinosaur agreed and when the dinosaurs were all set up and the exhibit opened, it gave rides to little children. People came from all around the world and the Centre made thousands of dollars. With all the money made, the Centre set up a dinosaur museum with real dinosaurs. The Styracosaurus made lots of new friends and was very happy.

- Shawn, age 8, USA
- After 80 million years of roaming the earth as the last of the surviving dinosaurs the Styracosaurus' DNA spontaneously mutated. In a matter of minutes the docile herbivore became a ferocious carnivore. The menacing creature suddenly had large fangs. It used these fangs to turn on Jill. He thrust the razor sharp blade through her skull, pithing her. He calmly ate her brains as for some reason this was his favourite part. Being a dinosaur he had no natural enemies and was allowed to rampage freely through the streets eating people's brains. It would be hours before the army could ship a weapon large enough to kill this animal.
- By the end of the day, 42 people were dead and many countless others were injured in the ensuing stampedes. The moral of the story is — if you see a dinosaur in your town, don't try to pet it.
- P.S. My cousin helped with some of the words but the ideas were mine. By the way my favourite dinosaur is the Pachysephalasaurus.
