Can you jump higher than Lauren Jackson or throw faster than Brett Lee? To find out, a new exhibition at Questacon lets you test your skills against Australia’s best athletes.

Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre today launched Sports Quest just in time for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, allowing visitors to emulate their sporting heroes while also learning about the science behind the sport.

With exhibits ranging from how fast you can walk to your ability to balance like a gymnast, children and their families are likely to work up a bit of a sweat in this gallery.

Sports Quest combines education and entertainment by using Questacon’s trademark hands- on fun, a combination guaranteed to appeal to visitors of all ages, particularly children and families.

Ross MacDiarmid, Australian Capital Tourism (ACTC) Chief Executive, was also on hand to help launch a joint sporting initiative between the Australian Institute of Sport, National Museum of Australia, Australian War Memorial, Questacon and ACTC.

Each of these institutions will help celebrate our sporting nation in this special year, by showcasing a sporting exhibition which will inspire local and interstate visitors.
