Presentation: 10.30-11.30 Wednesday 18 February at Questacon.

Questacon will be honouring three long-term volunteer staff today, who have devoted forty years of service to the organisation. Questacon will be presenting 10 and 20-year badges to the Volunteer Explainers.

Richard Conan-Davies and Peter Cudmore have given their time and scientific knowledge to Questacon’s visitors for 10 years. Jenny Wanless has been with Questacon since the very early days at Ainslie Primary School, and still comes in like clockwork, to pass on her passion for science to families and youngsters. Jenny will be presented with a badge for 20 years of service to Questacon. In that time Jenny has trained a great many of Questacon’s current crew of volunteers.

The volunteer group at Questacon is always striving to bring science to life for Questacon’s visitors. In recent times they have initiated a new program - Discovery Trolleys, which they wheel out amongst the exhibits, and perform mini science experiments on the spot, for fascinated families. Jenny has been closely involved in developing the trolleys, which have been a real hit with visitors.

Our volunteers are what we here at Questacon would call Questacon ambassadors. They carry the passion and wisdom for science and love to share this with the world. Up to 350,000 people visit Questacon each year to have fun with science. Our volunteers interact with a huge number of these visitors.

Questacon - The National Science and Technology Centre seeks to make science fun and relevant for everyone through the design, development, and presentation of interactive exhibits, programs and science performances. Questacon’s dedicated and talented volunteers make a vital contribution to Questacon’s success.
