Questacon Website Privacy Statement

Introduction

In accordance with the Guidelines for Federal and ACT Government World Wide Websites (http://www.privacy.gov.au/internet/web/index.html ) issued by the Australian Privacy Commissioner, Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre provides the following privacy statements:

Site visit data

Our server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes — the user's server address, the user's top level domain name (eg. .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc.), the date and time of the visit to the site, the pages accessed and documents downloaded, the previous site visited and the type of browser used.

No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the service provider's logs.

Cookies

Questacon's website uses cookies. The cookie is not used to identify individual users. The site will still work for users who have disabled cookies in their browser.

Cookie information is not kept or forwarded to any other organistion. Users may have complete confidence that Questacon respects our visitor's privacy and confidentiality over the Internet.

E-mail management — collection of personal information

We will only record your e-mail address if you send us a message. It will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and will not be added to a mailing list. We will not use your e-mail address for any other purpose, and will not disclose it, without your consent.

Security

Because there is a risk of the interception of personal information that is distributed via the internet and e-mail, when we provide an electronic form to collect information we will always provide users with alternate means to send in that information, for example by post, telephone or fax.
