School Workshops

a problem solving process of think, make, try and refine, as result from a need in society

The Ian Potter Foundation Technology Learning Centre (The Centre) is a centre for creative, constructive, problem-solving activities that use a range of tools and technologies: from saws and scissors to 3D printers and laser cutters. All activities at The Centre allow students to think with their hands and use the integral aspects of learning such as conversation, interaction with others and the application of knowledge to think innovatively and construct meaning and understanding of the world around them.

The school workshops are built around a framework of innovation that responds to a society need via a process of Thinking, Making, Trying and Refining. Based in one or all of these Innovation steps, each workshop poses a different challenge and learning experience where students will explore science, maths, design and technology. The workshops will have students expanding their lateral and logical thinking, as well as increasing their confidence in their ability to work through problems to reach a solution.
