Bio - Jane Urquhart

Mrs Jane Urquhart is the Head of Science and Commercialisation Policy Division, Department of Industry, Innovation and Science. Her responsibilities include science policy development and implementation, management of governance issues for science agencies, liaison with the Office of the Chief Scientist, commercialisation policy and international science engagement. From 2010-2013 she was General Manager of the Enterprise Connect program.

Jane previously worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in roles covering Trade Liaison; West Europe; and Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.  From 2004-2007, she was Australian Consul-General to New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Wallis and Futuna.

In 2002, Jane served as Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, having led the unarmed International Peace Monitoring Team in Solomon Islands in 2001, and served as Deputy High Commissioner in Honiara from 1998-2000.

Jane has a Graduate Diploma in Foreign Affairs and Trade and Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) from the Australian National University.
