National Presence Strategy 2020-30

As Australia’s National Science and Technology Centre, Questacon’s mission is to excite and motivate people to engage with STEM through inspirational learning experiences.

We deliver our programs and exhibitions at our two Questacon facilities in Canberra, as well as through travelling programs, partnerships and collaborations. We also enable availability and accessibility of programs to audiences across Australia through virtual delivery of workshops and experiences.

To meet the needs of the Australian people and communities through the next decade, we have redefined our approach to science communication, STEM engagement and learning. Our new National Presence Strategy will better position the work of our Centres and programs in response to Australia’s evolving STEM engagement landscape.

The Strategy focuses on greater leadership, collaboration, connection and capacity-building of Questacon’s national programs and facilities. It introduces a place-based, sustained and cooperative approach to enable us to make a greater contribution to STEM capability in regions of identified need and help achieve long-lasting impact.

By maintaining and extending Questacon’s national reach while cultivating a network of locally led STEM learning ecosystems, our new approach aims to strengthen the future workforce and ensure young people, in particular, have the attributes, skills, knowledge and agency to thrive.

Our National Presence Strategy (2020-30) will help us realise our vision of a better future for all Australians through engagement with science, innovation and technology.
