By Questacon Media 15 Jun 2016

Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre has launched a new interactive app – Marbelous Ball Run.

The Marbelous app is a marble run simulator, used as a tool to build problem solving skills through rapid prototyping. The app allows safe and quick testing of strategies, and exploration of options to solve a virtual challenge. Through its interactive features, the app encourages the process of creativity and problem solving, and provides a platform for participants to devise their own challenges, extending their learning into their everyday lives. The app is a great example of innovative learning in a digital space.

Questacon delivers a range of workshops and interactive online exhibits to educate and facilitate science learning. The Marbelous app augments the delivery of the existing ball run workshop and allows for pre and post visit experience.

The app allows users to challenge their design and puzzle-solving skills using classic marble-run components like cardboard ramps, wooden rulers and more. The advanced physics engine, allows accurate tracking and realistic ball motion, with adjustable gravity, ball bounciness and friction.

Marbelous is available for free download via the iTunes Store and Google Play, or can be accessed online.
