In February, a Japanese Science Museum Association delegation of 14 people, four of whom were from Miriakan, toured Questacon, visited the Shell Questacon Science Circus at Calwell High School, and explored the various aspects of Questacon operations.In August, Professor Durant and Craig Whelan attended a meeting in Tokyo as part of the Department of Innovaton’s delegation to attend the Australia–Japan Joint Science and Technology Committee. During this time Questacon and Miraikan (the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) renewed their memorandum of understanding for a further five years. This was the second renewal of the MOU, originally signed in 2002.
