Box Fort! Who said Questacon is just for kids?

Questacon opened its doors to 'grown-ups' for our adults-only SciNight ‘Happy Endings’ On 28 October. The night focussed on exploring experiences that bring people happiness. The Shed invited adults to use their imagination embrace their inner builder to construct the ultimate box fort.

Using boxes from Questacon’s recycling, visitors were challenged to work together to build a box fort and relive childhood memories of cubby house building. To help make a strong, structurally sound fort, we supplied visitors with specially designed screws from Makedo and sticky tape. The stronger the box fort, the longer it will survive (and the longer it takes to destroy!).

Once a basic corridor was built, people started to really get creative and the fort started to take shape in earnest. A well was built, the iconic Telstra tower was added and robots were made to serve their human creators.

After seeing the adults in the fort, we decided to keep the activity running into the weekend and before we knew it, most of The Shed had become a box fort!
