Things to know about Questacon Science Circus
If you're looking to book or expecting a visit from the Questacon Science Circus soon, there are many things our teachers and schools like to be aware of before our arrival.
Yes, all our presenters have had police checks and hold current WWVP/WWCC cards or qualify for current State based exemptions. If your school needs any further documentation for our visit, please email us at outreach.bookings@questacon.edu.au.

Our shows are designed for primary school students, so we prioritise visiting those in years Foundation to Year 6. In some circumstances we may be able to accommodate other year levels - please contact us to discuss if this is possible.
We can present our shows in a variety of spaces, but we will require the following:
- A room large enough for the audience and a 4m area at the front for the presenters
- Two trestle-sized tables
- An electrical power point
- Access to water (not necessarily in the show space).
Most schools like to use their school hall, covered outdoor learning area or their multi-purpose room. If you are unsure about your space, please contact us and we can advise.
If the space is used for other activities before and after school, where possible, we would appreciate that the activity be moved to an alternate venue for the day of our visit. If this is not possible, please advise the supervising teachers that we will be in the space and require an exclusive cordoned off area for set up, show reset, and pack down.
Some of our shows may involve materials that could pose a risk to students with specific allergies eg. Latex/balloons.
We are aware of the major allergens such as nuts and eggs and already avoid bringing those items into schools, however we want to ensure that schools can alert us of any further allergens.
While we are aware that schools manage their own accessibility needs, there may be adjustments we can make to the shows to make them more enjoyable for students with different needs.
For example, we may be able to provide a sound-based show for students that have vision disabilities, or we can ensure that we alert for loud noises for students with sensory sensitivities.
Apart from the venue requirements, you do not need to provide any other resources for the visit. Our team will bring everything required for the shows.
Our team will set up the space on the day to fit their needs. Your students will be sitting on the floor for the presentation but if you would prefer them to sit in chairs, please make sure this is set up in advance.
As we are a well-known institution, we sometimes get news media requests to attend our touring activities. We will always check in advance with your school if this is requested on the date of your visit.
Please note, if you have already indicated 'no' to media on our documentation, we will not contact your school for any media events.
Our program is presented free of charge with the support of the Australian Government.
