Visitors with epilepsy

Some of our exhibits have flashing lights (including computer screens). But they all fall outside the trigger frequency of 5 to 30 hertz* (flashes per second).

If you are feeling nauseous or dizzy, cover one eye with your hand and look away from the exhibit. Do not cover both eyes.

Gallery 2: Fundamental

• Plasma plates are shown in the Mike Gore Curiosity Corner.
• The vibrating pin screen vibrates at 2.7–5.5 hertz.
• Frozen Shadows produces a single bright flash of light.
• Persistence of Vision (POV) uses repetitive flickering.
• Moiré Patterns exhibit may appear to flicker as you walk past it.

Gallery 3: Awesome Earth

• Screens and lights flash in, and directly, outside the Earthquake House.
• Caged lightning produces an extended bright bolt of light once every 15 minutes.
• The Blue Sky exhibit can rapidly switch between red and blue light when in use.

Gallery 4: Q Lab

You can fast forward or rewind the video on the Dynamic Screen, causing the images to flash.

Rototron contains flashing LEDs that create the illusion of movement.

Exhibits in other areas

The Moire Illusion at the bottom of the spiral ramp can appear to flicker and pulsate as you walk past it.
