About

Join INTERSECT, Darwin’s STEM educator network, for an afternoon the exploring how sport can spark STEM learning in the classroom.

Hosted at the Charles Darwin University (CDU) Sport and Exercise Science Lab at their Casuarina campus, this interactive session will explore how sport and games can create engaging opportunities for students to develop science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills in the classroom.

Through practical demonstrations and hands-on activities, you'll explore the STEM concepts behind sport and consider how they could be brought into your classroom. Working alongside fellow educators we’ll discuss What STEM learning opportunities are hidden in everyday sporting activities, and how can we adapt these activities to encourage curiosity, investigation and problem-solving.

You'll hear from local sporting organisations about their work and how sporting activities can be transformed into rich STEM learning experiences. You'll also have the opportunity to see the DeadlyScience Kickin’ It Lab in action and discover new ways to use sport to inspire STEM learning.

We'll finish the afternoon with networking and afternoon tea, bringing together Darwin's STEM education community to share ideas, make connections and celebrate the end of the year.
