Do you have a little budding scientist on your hands? Mini Q—fun for 0-6 year olds is a space built specifically for curious toddlers!
Each zone in Mini Q encourages your young children to explore their environment through a process of observation, prediction, testing and refining. This helps little (and big) scientists to learn about the world around them, inspire their imagination and build their confidence.
We’ve updated Mini Q to meet COVID-19 safety measures and keep you – and your children – safe.
When you arrive, ask about Mini Q sessions and bookings at the ticket desk.
Mini Q is included with general admission entry. But session times may be in place during peak periods such as school holidays and long weekends.
To keep our visitors safe, we’ve limited numbers in Mini Q to allow for social distancing. The Active Play and Space Lab exhibits are currently closed to ensure the health and safety of staff and visitors, and appropriate physical distancing.
Instead, our staff are on-hand to engage and facilitate hands-on learning for little scientists. Children will be able to explore the world around them by participating in role-play and hands-on activities. Children will play, discover and have the opportunity to ask lots of questions in a friendly and inclusive environment.
To maintain personal hygiene, smocks are no longer available from the Water Play area of Mini Q. Please bring a spare change of clothes or your own smock. We’ve replaced fluffy toys with ones that are easier to clean after each use.
Full COVID-19 safety measures are on our COVID smart page.
Mini Q has its own bathrooms and baby change facilities. Questacon is a breastfeeding-friendly institution and you are welcome to breastfeed anywhere in the Centre. Mini Q has a dedicated space for breastfeeding and bottle feeding equipped with microwaves for warming milk. Find the facilities you need with our Centre map.
Prams are not allowed in Mini Q; however, there is limited pram parking available at the front of the gallery.
No food or drink is allowed in any of Questacon gallery spaces, except for baby formula. You can bring food to enjoy outside the building before or after your Mini Q session. Coffee, snacks and light meals are available from Atomic Café.
Questacon acknowledges First Nations peoples as the Traditional Custodians and first scientists, makers and innovators of this land and their continuing connection to Country.
