Reopening soon
The newly redeveloped Mini Q is set to reopen on 30 October 2025!
While Mini Q is temporarily closed, our youngest scientists can build, experiment, experience and play with endless possibilities at the Mini Shed in Gallery 5. Find information about the Mini Shed.

About
The exhibition, designed for 0-6 year olds, blends immersive play with scientific exploration, supporting early STEM learning and cultural connection through hands-on experiences, storytelling, and sensory engagement.
Visitors will be able to embark on a STEM-filled voyage from Ngunnawal Country to Sea Country all around Australia, engaging with hands-on experiences that nurture early learning.
A highlight of the new space is the research vessel InQuestigator, where children can climb aboard and, through play and experimentation, explore Australia’s oceans and shorelines
Developed in collaboration with STEM education experts and First Nations knowledge holders, Mini Q reflects best practice in early childhood development and inclusive science communication. It is designed to reward repeat visitation, with children discovering new layers of content and engaging in different ways as they grow.
