Now You’re Cooking: Designing Solar Ovens

In this FREE virtual workshop, you will:

• Get hands-on with sustainable engineering and activities from the ‘Now You’re Cooking: Designing Solar Ovens’ unit of work. In this unit, students are introduced to the field of sustainable engineering and will explore how sustainable engineers use their understanding of the physical properties of materials, knowledge of heat and light, lifecycle assessments, and engineering skills to design and create sustainable solutions.

• Develop effective strategies to teach STEM content, and skills, to meet the learning needs of your students.   

• Gain the confidence to teach STEM in your classroom through the Engineering Design Process.   

After the workshop, we’ll send you a resource kit and unit of work so you can run Engineering is Elementary in your classroom. You’ll also be connected to a national community of practice for ongoing collaboration and support.

• This workshop is a two-part series, to complete the workshop make sure you attend both session 1 and session 2. Each of the sessions are 1.5 hours. 
• You can sign-up to one of the two available groups – see session times below.
• Engineering is Elementary units are designed for primary educators; however, they can be adapted for secondary school or other settings.
• ​Workshops are listed in AEDT time zone. Please check what time zone you are in and adjust accordingly.
• ​Workshops will be delivered via Microsoft Teams.  
• ​Workshops are FREE but applications are essential as places are limited!
