About
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to enhance your teaching skills and inspire students through STEM? Join us for our Engineering is Elementary workshops where we will be delving into hands on design challenges to explore cross curricular learning.
You could dip your toe into our unit of work called ‘Water, Water Everywhere: Designing Water Filters’. In this unit, students are introduced to the field of environmental engineering and will explore how environmental engineers use their understanding of local waterways, the physical properties of materials, systems thinking and engineering skills to design and create a water filter.
Alternatively, you can explore our unit of work ‘Lights, Buzzer, Action: Designing Alarm Circuits’. In this unit, students are introduced to electrical engineering and will explore the transfer and transformation of electricity, circuit components and the properties of electrical conductors and insulators. Using their knowledge, engineering skills and thinking processes students plan and design their own electrical system.
In each FREE workshop you will:
- Get hands-on experience with the activities from our integrated STEM units of work.
- Develop effective strategies to teach STEM content, and skills, to meet the learning needs of your students,
- Gain the confidence to teach STEM in your classroom through the Engineering Design Process.
After the workshop, we’ll send you a resource kit and unit of work so you can run Engineering is Elementary in your classroom. You’ll also be connected to a national community of practice for ongoing collaboration and support.
Places are limited.
